The campus of the University of South Bohemia is entering one of its most significant transformations in recent years. Extensive revitalisation of outdoor areas has begun, aiming to create a healthier, greener and more sustainable environment for studying, working and relaxation. The first changes are already visible — and with them come gradual restrictions on movement around the campus.
The project aptly titled “Water, Greenery, Life” is bringing elements of so-called blue‑green infrastructure into the heart of the university. Over time, the campus will gain new water features, trees and planting beds, green roofs, leisure and sports areas, and other improvements. These measures will enhance the microclimate, support rainwater management and promote biodiversity. Overall, the transformation will not only refresh the appearance of the campus but also increase its resilience to the impacts of climate change.
The revitalisation is planned to last approximately 15 months and is being carried out by Gardenline s.r.o. Through this project, the university continues to follow its long-term strategy focused on sustainability and socially responsible behaviour. The concept of a “green” campus complements existing initiatives such as the installation of photovoltaic power plants, the development of e‑mobility, and the introduction of new study programmes focused on sustainability.
